April, Foolz / Historys Greatest (sardless) Twits Part II

Kinda seems weird to be still talking about April, but the dudes over at the twitter just kept going and going all month, such that a summary of all the latest tunes and etc. requires careful analysis in multiple parts. So! Here it is.

April 16 New HEALTH tracks from their highly anticipated (by me) DISCO2 require use of my favourite emoticon, the crazy open mouthed smile guy :D... :D :D :D D :D :D D :D :D D :D :D D :D :D - RT @pitchforkmedia : New HEALTH track: "USA Boys", recorded in Trent Reznor's home studio http://bit.ly/dyLrih .

April 18 More HEALTH was to be had with a link posted to a bunch of old remixes in preparation for the aforementioned DISCO2 - old ass HEALTH remix collection to tide you over till DISCO2 drops June-wise http://bit.ly/2Kgb57

April 17 This was posted after the editorial team decided that any artist with a name like "GRIMES" would be certified bad-ass. Turns out someone should have read the rest of the description, where it goes on to compare GRIMES to adult-contemporary (love the name of that genre) singer-songwriter Jewel... Let that be a lesson to yall, kids: READ ENTIRE SENTENCES - careful RT @gorillavsbear: free LP from montreal's Claire Boucher, aka GRIMES. ghostly nite jewel-meets-paavoharju http://bit.ly/dxKdx8

April 17 How could I forget about 1-Speed Bike and his awesomely named bandcamp page 1-SpeedFukinBike. The album Pashto Translator Needed, which you can get there for free is... interesting / strange / bullocks / genius / terrible rambling garbage, but is worth a listen - 1-Speed Bike - Pashto Translator Needed. Weird shit album download http://1-speedfukinbike.bandcamp.com/

April 18 With its usual awesome abilities to FORESEE THE FUTURE, @sardless instructed followers to watch the Nocando / Busdriver duet, "Two Track Mind", which is the best part of Nocandos mostly excellent Jimmy The Lock, which we should review here at some point, but, well, you know... - @MCNocando - Two Track Mind ft. @busdriverr . The finest moment on Jimmy the Lock. http://youtu.be/12Yr6v7qkeg .

The next day, April 19, AlphaPup records, obviously seeing the awesome impact of the @sardless hype machine, essentially copied our tweet to their own followers. IF ONLY they had retweeted us, think of the riches (@alphapup boasts a small matter of 2,347 followers...) - HAY! sardless told everyone to watch this on Sunday! RT @ALPHAPUP: Watch: @MCNOCANDO "Two Track Mind" ft. Busdriver: http://ow.ly/1zvfb .

April 20 Another one of the f__king ten million mixtapes that makes its way through the @sardless digestive system to be passed on to the eager followers. I think this one was a bit crap, but oh well have a listen and see for yourself - DOWNLOAD: It's A Rap Presents: On Deck [mixtape] - http://www.itsaraprogo.com/?p=859

April 20 This Major Lazer video is... the fuckedist thing ever made. It is difficult to describe what is going on for most of this video and it is disturbing to say the least. Features semi-nude buxom goblin-faced lasses riding tiny bikes as well as Diplo dancing in a sweet shiny suit... Take a look for yourself! - Major Lazer "Keep it Going Louder" this is unpleasant http://vimeo.com/7652564

April 22 Inspired by the outstandingly excellent free Free Gucci mixtape (who is indeed now free, thanks to said mixtape /conjecture), Bird Peterson made Drankenstein, a mix of southern hip hop x Bird's favourite trance samples. While that combination on the face of it sounds disgusting, Drankenstein turns out 'effing good, managing to dispense with the cheesy edge usually found in both southern hip hop and trance - removing the generic beats present in the former while slowing down the trance to match the lyrics which results in an eerie sort of synthetic pipe-organ sound instead of the cheap unpleasantness usually associated with trance. The finest moment occurs when Bird takes this track that is mostly ENTIRELY about a guy wearing shades (so people can't tell what he is looking at), removes the ludicrous TV cop drama beats and replaces them with a chewed up sample of some trance to produce something that somehow ends up sounding more interesting than its constituent parts. The overall result means Drankenstein has a uniquesound, and is equal parts clever, listenable and BAD ASS - Potentially interesting: 15 tracks of southern hip hop remixes [courtesy of Mad Decent] http://maddecent.com/blog/drankenstein

April 23 First leak off of the highly anticipated (by me) and possibly not-really-real-or-even-going-to-happen Busdriver mixtape Computer Cooties, which was alluded to last month (see also here). Can you call a track released by the artist himself a leak? One for the philosophers perhaps..? Possibly! Regardless, "Man Baby" features production by the one and only Flying Lotus(!) and is an awfully awfully odd piece. Colour me interested - O... it is RT @Busdriverr 'MAN BABY/COMPUTER FACE/PURE BEING' off of 'COMPUTER COOTIES'. http://bit.ly/brXI4R

April 23 Diplo went to Cuba. Most people don't and can't do that. Read his highly lucid account courtesy of this post. Also, fuck that guy for living awesome, almost makes me wish i stayed in school - yes this is a really interesting read RT: @thedailyswarm: Diplo Goes to Cuba... http://bit.ly/aPixJs

26 April James Pants gives us new material in the latest Stones Throw podcast 59: James Pants - new originals & remixes. You have no reason not to have and have listened to this. It features bits and pieces from here and there, mixing up some other artists material such as some old Three 6 Mafia that almost everyone has had a go at by now, as well as stuff from his last album Seven Seals (see sardless review here), and just goes to show further how interesting this dudes shit is and why he bugs me so much all of the time with his lacklustre albums - RT @stonesthrow : Stones Throw Podcast 59: New Pants. All new work by James http://is.gd/bHkzk @STjamespants (for some reason his account doesn't exist any more. Hope Pants is OK...)

April 28 From the dudes that brought you Shut Up, Dude, comes a.. review of their mates mixtape, Fear of a Clear Channel Planet (BBU) which you can also have, although due to my poor linking / twitters spaz linking regime you might have had remove rogue closing parenthesis for it to work. These challenges aside, FOCCP is good. Particularly track 2, "BB Who?", although they do do some rhyming over Aqua's "Barbie Girl" in "Black n' Plastic" which does neither parties any favours. - RT @dasracist : We reviewed our homies @itsBBU new mixtape at XXL http://goo.gl/sqgZ (get the mixtape at http://foccp.com/ )

So this is just a small small sample off all of the fun had daily / weekly / monthly / yearly over at the bird. Other highlights included one of twitters finest twitterers and scholar, @RAEKWONICEWATER, getting a new MACBOOK PRO and requiring assistance to clear his "cookies" (his quotes, not mine) to view his Myspace (fuck everything about that was funny). Then there was @RealTalibKweli and his trip to Australia, where he saw drunk dudes being ejected from Qantas planes, then he got his laptop stolen during his time in Melbourne, then he got it back again, then he was still being pissy about it after it got returned (understandably), while all the while having his mates such as Questlove of The Roots providing incisive commentary. Then there was exclusive pictures of Gregg "Girl Talk" Gillis backstage rider that are both shocking and mind boggling, and bunch of other stuff that was cool. See you in June!
