Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner - The Very Best of

To boldly go where no album has gone before.
This album is best described as the tragically ludicrous or the ludicrously tragic.
More bizarre than the fact that Shatner and Nimoy each have released albums is that they have released enough to have a VERY best of.
More bizarre yet is that this is a serious album, deadly serious...

An album so ridiculous, so unconscionable, so camp, and so serious that it has to be heard to be believed.
The 24 tracks range from Shakespeare narrations to Broadway numbers to covers of artists such as Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra.
The most infamous is probably William Shatners cover of The Beatles 'Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds'. A lot of people regard Shatners Beatles cover as one of the worst songs ever recorded by anyone anywhere, I disagree and think that it an outrageous classic, that for better or worse everyone should hear.

The majority are Shatners songs are spoken word whereas Nimoys are 'beautifully' sung folk tunes
I would like to point out that Nimoy can somewhat sing and Shatner puts a great amount of dramatic effort into his songs.

Nimoys 'The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins' was once an internet sensation, and he even did a music video for it. The notorious song tells of Bilbo Baggins (a hobbit from Lord of the Rings) adventure to get the one ring to rule them all. This is one of Nimoys best tracks on the album along with Highly Illogical.

I could not imagine anyone sitting down and seriously listening and enjoying it.
But the bargain bin price and its sheer outrageousness make it the perfect soundtrack to some sort of 60's dress-up party.
