Breez Evahflowin' - As He Goes On...row128 Nov 10 |
|
As He Goes On is a fitting title to Breez's reflective and final LP. As a final album Breez pulls no punches while addressing his target audience of those in their 30's, focusing on careers, growing older and as a 38 year old being realistic in a music industry focused on gimmicks and greed. Throughout the album Breez keeps firm control of the mic, never faltering or failing to keep this reviewer interested across his various subject matter. His tempo is kept strongly in check with producers such as Wally What speeding things up on "Land of the Gun" and Burt Fox slowing it right down on "Cornerstone". One might be inclined to keep their final album a strictly solo affair, but Breez brings Dirt E Dutch, Rob Swift and Immortal Technique along for the ride. He also goes completely all out on the Karate Kid inspired "The Best" which features Infinito 2017, Atari Blitzkrieg and six others jammed into an intense four minute epic. As He Goes On is a commanding conclusion to Breez Evahflowin's multi-decade spanning rap career and one can only hope that enough people pick this up and persuade him to do a Jay-Z style retirement and keep "flowing". While you the album may not be appropriate for all occasions, for those willing to listen there is a story to be told and possibly some lessons to be learned. As he says |
